Career
Level:

At or above the GS-13 level


Citizenship:
Open to U.S. citizens, including residents of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and other U.S. territories.  Note: Permanent residents and non-US citizens are not eligible for the NAFP.
Deadline: January 21, 2010 (Notice of Intent Only)


Education
Level:
 
At minimum a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline
Length of
Program:

18-22 months, including 9 months spent teaching at a Minority  Institution and approximately 9-13 months in professional  development assignments at NASA Headquarters, another government agency, or in the private sector

 

Requiremens:

  Applicants must meet the following:

Must be recommended by the Center Director AND Branch Chief or Directorate Head

Must return to NASA for at least two years after the fellowship in accordance with NASA’s training policy

Must be willing to teach or conduct research at a Minority Institution

 STEM Faculty from Minority Instiutions

Career
Level:
 
At least full time, tenure-track, STEM faculty member


Citizenship:

Education
Level:
Must hold a Ph.D., Sc.D, or equivalent (less than 20 years) in a STEM discipline OR have expertise in a NASA-related discipline.
   
Length of
Program:

Twelve months conducting research at a NASA center, NASA  Headquarters, another government agency, the private sector,  and/or other NASA-related research organizations. Fellows may also pursue other developmental assignments over the course of the fellowship.

 Requirements:

 Applicants must meet the following:

Must be recommended by the Institution President AND the Department Chair or Dean

Must return to the home institution in a teaching/research capacity for at least two years after the fellowship

Cannot  serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on any NASA research grant during fellowship tenure
